Piano Tuning

All tuning is done in the traditional manner by ear without electronic instruments. Any pitch or temperament is available, but standard concert pitch (A 440–442), Steinway concert temperament, is the norm for all pianos.

Tim encourages clients to tune their instruments at least twice a year, to maintain their pitch, although professionals request tunings more often, before every concert or recording session.

Regular maintenance also enables a technician to identify incipient problems in an instrument, before they can become serious.
