About Tim Robinson

For more than three decades Tim Robinson has been recognized as one of the leading piano technicians in the Northeast. Born in New York where he apprenticed to some of the most eminent builders and concert tuners from Steinway and Sons, Tim has worked in every major New York concert hall and recording and broadcast studio including Carnegie Hall and all the venues in Lincoln Center. Many recordings by leading concert artists of the 20th century involved pianos prepared by him. Additionally he has been the concert technician for The Festival of Two Worlds in Spoleto, Italy and Charleston, South Carolina, and his work has been featured in The New York Times [PDF].

In 1997 Tim was invited by the Yale School of Music Dean and by the Chairman of the Piano Department to join the staff there, where he worked for several years, overseeing the tuning, maintenance, and rebuilding of hundreds of pianos. He has also served an appreciative clientele in Connecticut, for whom he performs all manner of piano services, from periodic maintenance and tuning to complete rebuilding.
